Reference Stallions
Of course Impress would have to be on this list with his gorgeous Arabian head, hooky neck and ultra refined stature. He’s an iconic stallion with his World Grand and Supreme champion wins as well as his ability to consistently sire foals that also earn these prestigious titles. He is the grand sire to our beloved Amber and SIRE to someone we are VERY excited about.
I couldn’t put Impress on this list without including his multi world champion producer sire Jesse James. Jesse James is an icon in the miniature horse world who is known for revolutionizing the industry with his refined, legs-for-days aesthetic that he stamps upon his offspring. Jesse James is the grandsire to Amber.
NHF Sizzles Black Raven
NHF Sizzle’s Black Raven is a horse that stayed under the radar in terms of popularity, but yet was one of the only horses that made my jaw drop when I first saw him. I mean, LOOK at that neck!! He’s not just a pretty face either (although he is in the Hall of Fame for halter) but he is also HOF in country pleasure driving as well!! How many horses can boast two HOF titles in two extremely competitive divisions? This guy can! He is the sire to our beloved Max (SMF Sizzle’s High Roller) and we can’t wait to see what Max produces for us!
Rock the Dice is an exceptional stallion owned by Faith Hambrook of Hawkhill Miniatures. He is a small shetland blend with the refinement and balance that is being introduced to the smaller miniatures. Our boy Chico is a direct son of Rock the Dice and we are delighted to own one of Rocky’s last foals before his retirement!
Vermilyea Farms Hershey Sugar Daddy
"Sugar Daddy" was a Multi-Congress Top 10 Stallion who left behind his beauty and royal lineage in his foals. His foals are stunning, refined, with beautiful movement and flawless confirmation. He is the sire of Coco and Divine and grandsire to Chico.
Dear Lord Almighty, if there was ever a perfect horse, I think Hershey Bar is damn near the closest I’ve ever seen. He doesn’t even look REAL. I look at him and every single time, I get butterflies in my stomach and feel giddy. He is a life sized Breyer horse! He is an ASPC foundation sire and is unsurprisingly a Congress Grand champion, Hall of Fame, Pony of the Year and Congress Grand Champion Sire. He is all Shetland, standing at 42” so he doesn’t categorize as a miniature horse but his elegance is being bred into miniatures through his offspring like Hershey Sugar Daddy. Our goal here at Moon Ridge is to emulate this beautiful horse…but in a smaller format. We are so incredibly grateful to have 2 granddaughters of his in our breeding program.
